Red Bull Regatta couples sailing skill and engineering prowess all while taking boats out of the water, and onto the land. Rhode Island, home of the prestigious America’s Cup, will host the competition that pits traditional sailing experts to pilot homemade crafts around a figure 8 course. Regatta is about the ingenuity of building something from nothing – using materials found in a garage or shed – and being clever, above all else, to race the fastest craft on land using nothing but the power of wind.
Crews of 3 will go head to head on the figure 8 track in a double elimination bracketed format to determine the winner. Each crew will have 1 pilot, and 2 helpers, just to give them the extra boost they need.
Red Bull Regatta is free to attend – just show up and watch the action!
