[NZ] South Island Blokart Champs 2012

Crónica de Russell Harray el Sábado 10

"Down in Nelson for South Island Champs. 27 races for first day between 5 divisions on a slippery track. With loose metal surface this is real fun stuff a bit like rally karting.Wind about 7-10 knts all day until it dropped out about 4.30. Grant Clark winning lightweights followed by Graham and Barry. Heavies, Theo leading followed by Colin and Wayne. At the moment I'm carrying 4 wins and a dsq so holding out big time for the first drop. Today seems much the same for wind. Real busy for the race committee as timing has spat the dummy big time and doing manual results. Barry and I now have the results sheet organised, immediately put in the computer and quicker than using the timing. Manual starts going well but need 4 to run everything, countdown, hooter, flags, line. All good fun."

Domingo 11

"Another good day, light winds most of the day, 43 races completed on the day giving 13 races each division for the series. Grant maintained his lead with Barry moving through to 2nd and Graham losing a count back for 3rd place to Debs. The heavies went down to the last race, Wayne having a good day to come back into contention and nailing 3rd. Theo won his last race while I got a 2nd so Theo took out the title, well deserved. Some very close racing all around.
Off to the beach today for barbeque brunch at 10 am followed by set up and briefing and then a 20 km race. Then the job of packing up all the karts and loading the trailer for Bruce to tow home. Prize giving a fun affair, great food and Nelson hospitality. All good."
