The Blokart Worlds are now less than a year away and things are ticking over towards the goal of attending. Trying to compete with my on the water sailing schedule (including Wind Warriors!) is hard work but progress has been made. We are also now playing with GoPro’s quite a bit to give the punters a better view of the action as seen in
Navig8rs article.
Now that I have used the Blokart multiple times, I am learning what I want on the Blokart. I have gone through changes with the cunningham setup (which I am about to change again) and have upgraded various other parts. I have bought a brand new No.4 sail and batten tensioners for all my sails. I have replaced all my wheel hubs including bearings, retiring the old set to beach use and back up track wheels. I am also a lot better at changing tires!
I was lucky enough at Christmas to get a Velocitek Prostart which is an absolutely brilliant tool in the Blokart! I have made a prototype custom fiber glass mount for it to straddle the 2 side mast stays and I am planning on making a Carbon Fiber one in the not to distant future which I will dedicate an article too detailing the process.
I have also learnt how being a little over eager can put you over – literally! I have to say the POD lid covers and sail luffs do not appreciate this one little bit. I have also had the locking pin on the glass axle shear of during a race at RAYC sending it scooting across the track and smoke coming out the back of my Blokart! – All minor details that can be easily fixed.
Part of the plan now for all you livesaildie.com fans out there – is to make her look sexy! A little bit of branding coming your way…
We will do a photo shoot and small video when she is done. This will be a great billboard for us in Perth for the Worlds.
